With three locations (Omaha, Gretna, and Lincoln), we help our 40,000+ customer base purchase new equipment, schedule simple tune-ups and general maintenance, locate and order parts, or consult on best practices with the machines we sell.
Ty’s seeks a Service Technician to service and repair products that are brought to our stores for repair. The Mechanic promotes customer relations and satisfaction by completing jobs on schedule. You will coordinate with the Service Advisors to connect with customers, in a timely manner, and provide updates on issues, such as unattainable replacement parts and warranty issues. You will be expected to establish customer relationships while promoting all aspects of Ty’s Outdoor Power.
In this role, you will:
- Support air-cooled 2-stroke, 4-stroke, and small liquid-cooled gas & diesel engine maintenance, tune-ups, and diagnosis.
- Perform engine removal and installation in various pieces of outdoor power equipment.
- Tear down the engine and analyze for warranty consideration or estimation.
- Diagnose fuel systems, which may include a carburetor overhaul.
- Diagnose and repair EFI components.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems for mowers, tractors, etc.
- Perform hydraulic drive system diagnosis and repair (especially ZTR drive systems).
- Have a mechanical aptitude for general/mechanical repairs on outdoor power equipment.
We’re looking for these skills:
- Ability to read a wiring diagram
- Work quickly AND efficiently
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Light welding skills (not required but is a plus)

We would prefer you have an education and/or experience:
- Knowledge of small engine theory (2- and 4-stroke): lubrication, cooling, ignition, and fuel systems.
- Certifications in major brands like Honda, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, Generac, MTD, etc. Master certification is a plus!
- Extensive experience with electrical systems, plunger-driven or axial pressure washer pumps and unloader systems, hydraulic theory, and associated diagnostic equipment and procedures.
This position offers an hourly wage starting at $15-21 and up, with bonuses based on performance. You will receive thorough training to kick-start your career.
